When a child is stuck in foster care because they cannot return to their biological family, the odds are against them. It is such an unknown issue that 23,000 children age out of the foster care system every year. 20% become homeless the day they age out. Only 50% of children who age out have some sort of gainful employment by age 24. 1 in 5 are incarcerated between ages 17 and 21.
