about the forgotten adoption option

The Forgotten Adoption Option emerged from Marcy Bursac's personal mission, shaped by her own life-changing experience of adopting a sibling pair through the Foster Care system. Recognizing the vast number of children longing for a forever family and adults eager to welcome them yet unsure of how to begin, Marcy transformed her insight into action.

This organization, a 501(c)(3) entity, embodies her dedication to educating, guiding, and inspiring potential adoptive families, ensuring every child's dream of a forever family is realized. Each resource is crafted to clear the fog on the road to adopt through the foster care system, ensuring no question goes unanswered, and aiming to help children be adopted before they age out of the foster care system. The Forgotten Adoption Option is where heartfelt advocacy meets the power of community action.

As a social enterprise, funding is sourced from a diverse mix of revenue streams including individual donations, grants, and proceeds from books, jewelry and course sales. Marcy is also an Invested Faith Fellow.

Marcy was interviewed and announced the winner of the Pilot Pen G2 Overachievers Grant on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 26th, 2023. Her heart is to help every waiting child be with their forever family. If you have any questions about the process or are wondering if you are even qualified to adopt, please reach out. She intentionally carves out time each week to encourage and teach people just like you.

Want to hear more about my adoption journey?

I’ve been where you are and I wrote down my real experience walking through the Foster Care Adoption process in my blog! I’ve also had the incredible opportunity to interview many others who have walked a similar journey or experienced adoption themselves on my podcast! Have more questions? Get in touch!

The foster care adoption process can take around 18 months to complete. Marcy is currently coaching a family that is caring for a sibling pair they are waiting to adopt, two families that are in the process of adopting a sibling group of 3 children, and a family that just began the process and is hoping to adopt a sibling group of 2-4 children. Other families she is coaching are in the process of being selected as the adoptive family, preparing their homes and lives for children to move in, or waiting on the legal process to flush out for children who are currently in their care but not yet adopted.
