this weekend’s agenda is pending…
Thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement! My love language is totally words of affirmation, so thank you for filling my love tank.
Thanks to a fellow foster mom, a former co-worker, and our licensing worker for sharing recommendations for a child psychologist… we have an appointment a week from tomorrow for big brother!!! This was an awesome find as when I called the first two places today, one told me their earliest opening is in August. Ain’t no one got time for that! Trying to think of how to offer leverage, I offered to pay out-of-pocket and was then given the name of a private practice that has immediate openings. Woo! In case you’re wondering, this is a $400 expense we are beyond happy to absorb. Little sister and big brother’s permanency is more important to us that any amount of money.
I was so thrilled to start today with a list including talking with our lawyer, scheduling little sister’s physical (which is tomorrow), and big brother’s eval and then to end the day with all these pieces checked off. Then it dawned on me that I hadn’t yet heard from the therapist. A text to check in and then an hour pause… the therapist and the social worker are going to talk on Wednesday when the social worker is making the drive across state to do a home visit with our family. (In case you’re working, your and my tax dollars pay for mileage. Maybe that will make you smile next time you pay state taxes.) I’m a little curious what this means as this only gives bio dad a couple days to prepare a bday party for this weekend… yet most decisions bio dad has made in the recent past haven’t exhibited more than a day or two of prior planning.. so this may work out just right.
If I were honest, I would tell you deep down I am hopeful bio dad does not request a June visit in addition to a May visit. I would also tell you that I would be beyond happy to wait this whole journey out for the court to take over… even if that means next spring… if it meant little sister not having a sour event associated with her birthday.
In my head May 15th is not too far off. It’s the day big brother is graduating pre-school. Later that weekend one of my older sister’s is graduating with her PhD. Little sister, big brother, my dad and I are making the trek to Ohio to celebrate. This timing could be after bio mom and bio dad terminate their parental rights. It could bring relaxation to my heart to know that the last steps to adoption are more a formality than uncertainty.
Things ahead that I’m looking forward to… and holding my sight on as to hold onto the positive…
This summer… we can start posting family photos. Yep… family photo session lined up in the near future.
In June… we are getting the kiddos a special outdoor toy. Big brother has chosen a skateboard and little sister wants a bike with a bell.
